STEM Sisters

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and we are lining up leading local women from each of these areas to mentor, speak and lead hands on activities with our girls. Our keynote speaker this year will be Jennifer Law, a NASA physician from the Houston area. We are hoping to get to communicate with one of the female astronauts up at the space station during our conference. STEM Sisters will include field trips to local STEM companies: the 188th Wing, ARCOM, ABB (Baldor) in order to see STEM in action. 

My name is Mattie McLellan and I am in the 9th grade at Chaffin Junior High. For my Girl Scout Gold Award I am working with Amy Adams from the Fort Smith School District to develop a 4 day STEM conference for 40 rising 7th grade girls from across the district to expose and inspire them to the many STEM fields available as careers.
